Our full day in New Orleans (1/15/09)

We had one day to see everything we could in New Orleans. And it was NOT warm!! First we drove to the 9th Ward which is where most of the Katrina damage is. It's also where they're building the Habitat for Humanity houses. They're all really bright colors and definitely make the street a little happier. I didn't take pictures of the devastation, but here are some pictures of the Habitat for Humanity houses.

Then we drove to the other side of town to see the Garden district. This is an area where the houses are pretty unbelievable and like none I've ever seen before. Most were originally built in the 1800's and have been renovated many times since then. For the first time ever, I was more interested in the history of it than Justin was. I only took a picture of one house, but the area was beautiful and pretty amazing!

Jackson Square

Of course we had to go to Cafe Du Monde to have Begniets (I think that's how you spell it!). We went for an afternoon snack after lunch. The concierge at our hotel told us it's open about 23 hours a day. They only close for about an hour in the middle of the night to clean! We really enjoyed it.

After our donut snack, we immediately headed to Bourbon Street! We stopped at Pat O'Briens and had some Hurricane's and a cigar! It was a fun afternoon stop.

For dinner, we went to the restaurant that EVERYONE suggested, Clancy's. It was delicious!! Although I didn't take a picture of us at dinner, here's a picture of the restaurant from the outside.
We loved Cafe Du Monde so much, we went back the next morning again!
